The Coaching Process

Coaching sessions are a space for you to talk through what’s on your mind, identify what’s not working in your relationships, and figure out what steps can get you to a better place.

FAQs.

What happens during coaching sessions?

  • We have two-way conversations about what’s going on in your dating, sex, or relationship world.

  • You talk, as much as you want. I listen.

  • I ask questions to help you process, go deeper, and unearth hidden patterns and truths about yourself.

  • When you want, I answer your questions, give advice on your roadblocks, and offer perspective based on current science and research.

  • We identify a goal or vision for your dating, sex, or relationship life, and then we craft a plan to get you there.

  • You learn and practice skills related to your specific goals and challenges.

  • Sometimes, we write and reflect.

  • Sometimes, I walk you through guided exercises, explorations, meditations, and somatic activities to get you in your body.

  • Sometimes, we’ll have “mini-workshops” exploring relevant research, relationship and psychology frameworks, and systems-level context to the challenges you face.

  • Usually, you’ll get “homework” assignments for in between sessions—habits to practice, experiments to try, targeted journaling prompts to help you start getting the wheels turning ahead of your next session, and more.

Where do coaching sessions take place?

All sessions take place via Zoom video call.

How long is each session?

50 minutes.

Do you accept insurance?

Not at this time.

Can I bring my partner?

Absolutely! Just let me know before the session so I can adjust our agenda for the day.

What’s the difference between therapy and coaching?

Therapy is designed to treat mental health issues, behavioral issues, trauma, personality dysfunction, and other deeper medical and psychological issues. Coaching is about having someone there by your side as you’re going through the trenches, someone who can teach you the skills you need to reach your goals (in this case, your sex and relationship goals specifically!) and guide you along the journey.

Why get a coach?

We all go through a time in our lives when we just need a little relationship advice, perspective, and guidance. Coaching is a way to figure out how to get through your roadblocks and hangups—all with a collaborative partner who just happens to be a trained expert.

As a sex and relationships educator, my chief job is to equip you with information: the scientific, research-tested relationship tools and psychological insights you need to create healthy, thriving relationships. Unlike a therapist, I’m not here to diagnose you or “treat” you for anything; I’m here to support you, guide you, listen to you, validate you, make you feel a little less lost, and offer advice on your relationship struggles from an expert’s perspective.

Okay, this is speaking to me, but IDK. Will this really help me?

I get it—it’s hard to tell how much something will help you just from reading a bunch of text on the internet! You can book a free 15-minute discovery call for a quick meet-and-greet to suss things out. Ask me any lingering questions you’ve got about coaching, plus get a feel for my style and how we’d work through your challenges. No pressure or commitment.
